Welcome to what we believe is the best climbing gym in the world, operating since 1993. We pride ourselves on offering our customers:

• The best variety of climbing walls in one gym
• The tallest walls in the southern hemisphere (20 meters vertical height)
• Climbing walls designed, built and tested to (EN 12572) European Standard for Artificial Climbing Structures. (and compliant with forthcoming AS 2316.1)

In terms of safety, Cliffhanger leads the way not just in Australia, but the world. We actually invented what is known as the "clip and tie" method of attaching the rope to the harness back in 1993, that's right, we've been around this industry longer than most of the other gyms.*

Our staff are all experienced climbers who have not only attended the Indoor Rock Climbing Gym's of Australia (IRGOA) Top Rope Instructors Course and hold current First Aid Certificates, but also undergo the most thorough internal training in the industry.

Cliffhanger is or has been an Accredited Member of the Victorian Tourism Operators Association (VTOA), a founding member of IRGOA, a member of the Climbing Gym's Association (USA), the Australian Climbing Instructors Association (ACIA) and the Australian Sport Climbing Federation (ASCF). Our compliance with all of these Association guidelines ensures your utmost safety.

Our Company Directors have sat on the Standards Australia SF/47 Committee since it's founding meeting in 1995. We have been a vocal part of that committee and the forthcoming Australian Standard AS2316 - Artificial Climbing Structures.

*We were also the first commercial climbing facility in the world to deploy Petzl Grigri's throughout the gym as belaying devices.

In 2008, we have also installed a new 60mm Acromat® impact attenuating landing surface throughout the gym - the first climbing gym in Australia to install this level of impact attenuating flooring.

Cliffhanger was also 'Voted 4th best climbing venue in the world' by The Discovery Channel on Foxtel and that was before our recent extensions!

Cliffhanger was a Founding Member of the the Indoor Rock Climbing Gyms of Australia Association Inc. (IRGOA) and not only complies with or exceeds the policies of IRGOA, but helped establish them as industry minimums to make a safer industry for all Australian climbers.
