Lead Climbing @ Cliffhanger

A Lead Climbing 'Fast Track' Safety Check is required for anyone not already 'Lead Certified' by Cliffhanger. You will be able to tell, as your I.D. Card will have the lead climbing status printed on the back.

If you can lead safely, and prove that to us, then a Fast Track will be quick and painless! Fail to be safe/competent and you will need to go away and practice or do a course.

Then each time you visit Cliffhanger, simply request a "LEAD PASS" at no charge, that you hang on your harness, so that our staff can see that you have done a "Lead Test".

We issue two different coloured Lead Passes - White (for standard passive belay devices such as ATC's, Sticht Plates, etc) and Green (for Active Devices such as Grigri's, Eddy's, etc). The Pass you are issued with, will correspond to the test you did at Cliffhanger. If you have been tested for both, then you must nominate which device you will be using on the day.

Lead Passes MUST be returned at the end of Each Session/Visit.

Please see below for acceptable technique that we require if you choose to lead belay with an "active" belay device.
