Originally... developed to allow cavers to efficiently ascend fixed ropes, Petzl's line of ascenders is always growing to meet new applications and user demands. In addition to the classic ASCENSION, handled ascender, the Petzl line includes a chest ascender, a foot ascender, a device for rappel safety, and an ultra-light emergency ascender that need never leave your harness.

Designed for climbing fixed single ropes from 8 to 13 mm.

• Highly functional handle:
  • ascender can be installed onto the rope one-handed (with ergonomic thumb catch),
  • elastomer protective sleeve for comfort and thermal insulation.
• Chrome-plated steel cam with inclined teeth to provide grip on wet, icy or muddy ropes.
• Self-cleaning slot on cam.
