Welcome to Cliffhanger Climbing Gym, Australia's premier indoor rock climbing centre, the tallest in the Southern Hemisphere - 20mts (almost 70') high, established in 1993.
We have more variety of climbing walls than any other gym in the country, two dedicated bouldering areas, a huge range of training aids, a dry-tooling wall, a dozen lead climbing walls and the best route setters in Australia so there are no queues to get on walls. We also have friendly and knowledgeable staff ready and willing to get you in to climbing.
Not only that, Cliffhanger is only 10 minutes from Melbourne CBD and easily accessible by the Westgate Freeway, Princes Highway or Western Ring Road - all roads lead to Cliffhanger!
Cliffhanger also has one of the biggest online climbing shops in Australia, and a full climbing shop on site at the gym, so be sure to take a browse before your next (or first) climbing purchase.
Because we are located in a massive Sports Complex, we also have a full range of services, including change rooms, showers, café, and over 500 FREE car parking spaces.
By popular demand, our Half Price Friday Nights has become a permanent fixture. Every Friday Night AFTER 5:30pm is Half Price. That's 50% off Casual Entry and Casual Gear Hire!
Starting September 1st 2008, each Monday morning between 9:30am and 11:30am we are offering a "private" Mums n Bubs session for those wanting to "Put that harness back on" but don't have someone to look after the little one. Read more at our Mums n Bubs Page.
'Dry Tooling' is where you use your (in this case our) Ice Axes on rock (or in this case plastic) - it's sometimes necessary when Alpine Climbing if the snow and ice is thin. We have imported a range of Dry Tooling specific climbing holds from Europe. Climbers will need to wear a helmet with a Visor (supplied by us) and Axes with Leashes (also supplied by us) and will be able to give it a shot on top rope. Ask at reception for more details. Opens mid October.
