Welcome to Cliffhanger!

Australia's tallest climbing gym

*Cliffhanger is now closed in line with government measures to stop the spread of Corona virus. We thank everyone for your support and hope we can get our state healthy again.

In the meantime, we are offering very large discounts on 13-month memberships, which will be frozen for the duration of the closure. These memberships are designed to be attractive, even with everything that is going on. If you can take advantage of it, we encourage you to. The specials will stop once we have certainty on our state's health situation.

You can buy the memberships using the link at the top of this page.

Cliffhanger was pleased to host Sport Climbing Victoria's 2020 state lead titles at the end of Feb/start of March, and what a massive weekend.

Anna Davey (WA) took out the comp prize of $1000. Davey is best known for her bouldering prowess, and on the weekend, surprised even herself with her level of endurance on the 27 meter Skywall, and 19 meter AME, edging out Australian youth team Ash Brooks (QLD), and Josie Wardrop (TAS).

Sarah McKenzie (team Gravity) claimed the Victorian title, in a showdown with Emma Crow. The two are solid friends, but Emma has already expressed her desire to reverse the positions for next year. Third was Cliffhanger's own Tracy Martens.

In the men's, Campbell Harrison (Team Australia/team Bayside) was determined to take the title, after coming second in the comp overall last year. Usually chill on the wall, this year Harrison's expression revealed exactly how hungry he was to win the comp. He didn't get it easy though. With some of his fellow Australian team members away on a training camp, Khosro Hashemzadah jumped into the void. Hashemzadah is member of the Iranian national team, and took it right up to Harrison. Hashemzadah looked like he might have taken the win as the penultimate climber in the final, falling on the last move, until Harrison climbed next - and sent.

Harrison also took out the Victorian title.

-------------------------------------------

2019 was a huge year, including visits from Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson, who conquered hardest climb in history, the Dawn Wall. They spent an awesome morning with us, climbing the AME wall, the Skywall and the main crack climb. In August, we hosted Sport Climbing Australia's first ever camp for Team Australia, before many of them headed off to compete at Arco. Good luck with Olympic selection to the entire squad. Cliffhanger was also proud to host Sport Climbing Victoria's state lead titles in February 2019.
